bursitis

I just read in the forum that you are not supposed to treat an area with ultra sound that has recently been treated with a cortisone injection...The med they used on my hip was "celestone acet/phos" 3mg....which was done on 12/15/09....So, how soon can the area be treated with ultra sound? Need to know, as I just ordered the machine this am...........I also did have an MRI of the hip to rule out any other problems, and it was negative. Also, If it is ok to start treatment with the Ultra sound, how should I approach using it on my hip? I have never had any swelling or reddness to the area. At least I will have a money back guarantee if I'm not happy with the Ultra sound machine. The Dr. recommended a 2nd shot of cortisone, but em leary of going that route again after reading all the possible side affects, and it didn't seem to really help much anyway, as I'm still having problems with discomfort in the hip area. The DX:trochantor bursitis.......

Hello jmaddie,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing such debilitating pain from your Trochanteric (hip) Bursitis. I’m sure you will be happy to hear that many individuals are able to heal their hip injuries through non-invasive treatment methods such as Therapeutic Portable Ultrasound, which also allows them to avoid both cortisone treatments and surgery.

We often recommend that individuals who have recently received a cortisone treatment should not administer portable ultrasound for a period of 30 days. Since you received your cortisone shot on December 15th of 2009 you have definitely surpassed that recommended period and should be able to administer portable ultrasound treatments as soon as you receive the MendMeShop Therapeutic Portable Ultrasound.

I believe you will begin to see some positive results when you begin treating your Trochanteric Bursitis with the portable ultrasound device as this unit stimulates tissue in your hip on a cellular level. I understand your hesitancy in seeking additional cortisone treatments, as this particular therapy often seems to dull or mask the pain you are feeling rather than treating the actual source of your pain. Hopefully you will begin to notice that treating your injury with our portable ultrasound will do a great deal to lessen the pain you are experiencing and begin to actually heal your hip injury.

If you happen to require any further assistance please feel free to respond to this post, or contact one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives toll free at 1-866-237-9608 or phone us directly at 1-705-445-3505.

Best of luck to you and happy healing!

I have a question...is it safe to come close to the hip bone, or even go over the bone when administering treatment?

Hello Again Jmaddie,

Good to hear from you Jmaddie, it is absolutely safe to apply treatment over your hip bone.

Just make sure you:

1) Constantly move the transducer head of the ultrasound in circular motions during treatment.
2) Apply enough ultrasound gel to create a seal between the transducer head and your skin.
3) Decrease the length or intensity settings of the device when treating less muscular or less fleshy areas of the body.

Please keep us posted as to your Trochanteric bursitis treatment progress.

Sincerely,

Allison
