What first? Heat, Ice, Ultrasound?

Postby dancebug » Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:25 pm

Hello,
I just received by Plantar Fasciitis kit today. Although each piece of equipment has wonderful instructions, I was wondering about the order that I should be using these devices? I am a dance teacher, and spend a majority of my evening on my feet with intense activity. Do you have any suggestions on the best process for using each device? Ice after activity? When do I use the Inferno Wrap? Should the ultrasound be used at a certain time? Do I use all three back to back?

Thank you!

Hello Jackie,

I know the multiple sets of instructions for each product may make the process of developing a tailored treatment schedule daunting, but I'm sure that with a few tips/tricks you will become an expert in treating your Plantar Fasciitis pain!

There are a few precautions you should consider when treating with several of our products (these precautions are also available in the "How to Combine Your Therapeutic Products" section in the "Instructions for Combination Treatments"):
• Your Plantar/Spur Freezie Wrap should be used when swelling, pain or inflammation recurs; usually immediately after any sort of activity (perhaps after you've completed your dance classes for the day).
• Use your Plantar/Spur Inferno Wrap or Portable Ultrasound System once severe inflammation and swelling have been reduced.
• Combined Plantar/Spur Inferno Wrap and Portable Ultrasound System treatments should never exceed a total of 4 per day.
• Space your Inferno Wrap and Ultrasound treatments evenly throughout the day.
• Always wait 60 minutes between hot and cold treatments so your Plantar Fascia can return to a normal body temperature.
• Make sure you do not over-treat your Plantar Fascia - if your injury becomes sore or inflamed after administering therapies you should immediately reduce the number of treatments and/or the intensity setting of the device.

Begin your day with a Portable Ultrasound treatment in the morning after you've had your breakfast, or before you plan to begin your day. Apply another ultrasound treatment before your dance classes to increase blood flow in your injury and prepare/soften your injured tissue for the activity ahead. Use your Plantar/Spur Freezie Wrap on an "as needed" basis - when you are experiencing a significant amount of pain or notice some swelling after you complete your dance class. Right before bed, while watching television or reading a book, relax with the Plantar/Spur Inferno Wrap to promote blood flow throughout the night as you rest.

If you happen to experience a significant amount of pain or discomfort in or around your Plantar Fasciitis injury while resting at night, you may want to consider adding our Night Splint with Tread to your treatment regimen to ensure that your Plantar Fascia remains stationary and flexed throughout the night.

Should you require any additional information or treatment advice, please feel free to reply to this thread or contact one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives toll free at 1-866-237-9608 or phone us directly at 1-705-445-3505. If you happen to speak to an individual in our customer service department, make sure you ask about our Plantar Fasciitis Ebook - I'm sure we will be more than happy to give you a complimentary copy so you may learn more about your injury including causes, symptoms, treatment methods as well as preventative measures.

Best of luck to you and Happy Healing!
