Achillies Tendonitis

Postby Donnie » Sat Feb 20, 2010 1:23 am

I have had a problem with my achillies tendon for just over a year now. It is not debilitating and does not keep me from doing most things very often, but some days are worse than others and it does hurt.

I have been to Dr.'s a few times and I had an MRI which showed that it was not ruptured. They had me try anti-inflammitories, oral steroids, stretching and sent me to a physical therapist for a short while, but it will not heal. I understand that tendons get very little blood flow and that this is part of the problem, but I dont want to stay like this forever.

It sounds like your products could possibly help, but I wanted to find out which ones would be beneficial and what type of treatment program I would need to do before making this investment. I imagine the heat and ultrasound would be beneficial, but what about the ice? Since it is not a new injury would the ice wrap still be beneficial?

Anyway could you please give me your opinion of whether or not you think your products would be right for my situation. If so could you give me your recommendations which produts and why, and also what I should try to do as far as a treatment schedule.

Thank You,
Donnie

Hello Donnie,

It sounds as though you have been quite diligent in seeking proper medical care for your injured achilles tendon, and you have been active in treating your chronic injury as best as you can.

You are correct in saying that tendon injuries typically receive very little blood flow, and therefore require longer healing time. Achilles tendonitis in particular is a degenerative condition and should not be left untreated otherwise a complete rupture may eventually result; which is a condition that is much more difficult to treat. Even with optimal healing you should be aware that there is always less elasticity in a previously injured tendon. It is always best to heal any tendon injury with minimal scar tissue formation and as much realignment of fibers as possible; which can be accomplished through Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy and Therapeutic Ultrasound treatments. These particular therapies are also ideal when treating long term injuries or chronic conditions.

Generally speaking, the R.I.C.E. Method (or Cold Compression Therapy) is ideal for treatment during the first 48 to 72 hours after an acute injury, or when your achilles tendon (or the surrounding area) is noticeably swollen. In this case, the Ankle/Achilles Freezie Wrap may benefit you if you happen to lead a rather active lifestyle in which you experience occasional swelling of your Achilles tendon due to overuse (i.e. you are required to walk or strand for a significant period of time during your work, or you participate in any type of sport or exercise).

The Inferno Wrap Promotes Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy

Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy will affectively decrease inflammation and increase blood circulation to your injury. Blood is the transport mechanism for oxygen, nutrients, water and antibodies, so proper blood flow is essential when healing any tendon injury.

Therapeutic Portable Ultrasound Treatments

Therapeutic ultrasound is a method of stimulating tissue beneath the skin's surface using sound waves. It is like a high frequency massage that can penetrate up to 4" below the surface of the skin. The heating and massaging effects of therapeutic ultrasound have 3 primary benefits: it can speed the healing process, reduce swelling, and heal damaged tissue softening scar tissue.

If you intend to treat your Achilles Tendonitis injury with both the Ankle/Achilles Inferno Wrap and the MendMeShop Therapeutic Portable Ultrasound you should apply portable ultrasound treatments between 2 to 3 times daily (while keeping in mind the "Treatment Frequency" as outlined on page 5 of the "MendMeShop Ultrasound Treatment Guide"). You should also apply 1 Inferno Wrap treatment for up to 60 minutes. Try to apply a portable ultrasound treatment in the morning right before you eat your breakfast, or before you head out to work. Try applying another ultrasound treatment during your lunch break or right after you arrive home from work (in the early evening or late afternoon). Increase the flow of blood in your Achilles tendon each evening before bed by putting on your Ankle/Achilles Inferno Wrap while watching your favourite prime time programs on television, or reading a book. Please be conscious in never exceeding a total of 4 combined Inferno Wrap and Portable Ultrasound treatments per day. Also make sure to review all of the individual product instructions as well as the "Instructions for Combination Treatments" that is included with your products.

I hope I have adequately answered all of your questions, and if you happen to require any additional assistance please feel free to either respond to this post or phone one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives toll free at 1-866-237-9608 or phone us directly at 1-705-445-3505.

Wishing you the very best in health and wellness,
