HAE-FIBRO-Vein Strengthening-Massage

Postby koiotic » Mon Nov 30, 2009 4:44 pm

Hello -

I purchased your US unit and have been using it for about a week now - I have fibro and Hereditary Angio Edema....I am very active for my conditions, and self manage very well - Even walked a half marathon in May 3h 42 min - 5K last month - 46 minutes - and went snow shoeing last weekend...I do have a lot of pain, but diet, exercise, stretch, meditation, sombra, massage, PT, chiropractic, biofeedback, chi gong - and more to manage the pain - I also work full time...

My doctors/and PT know about my purchase, and they are very excited about it - I am actually going to bring it in on my next visit....

I read your posts on how the Ultrasound can help with fibro and general pain - In addition on the help with varicose veins - and have been using it....
I have a couple questions after reading the post on varicose veins.....

Twice weekly I have to go in for an infusion for the Hereditary Angio Edema - My veins are not the best - most of the time we use my hands as they are the best veins I have. I have read alot about veins, and have been told that I can increase the elasticity in them by working them out - which I do work out...but after reading your comment about veins - I am curious if the Ultrasound may possibly help with increasing the strength of my veins - What I have been told about them is that they are small and they roll - and when the needle goes in they have a tendency to restrict -

The other question - should I feel the heat from the Ultrasound - It seems like as soon as I begin to feel it - the session is over.....the heat feels so good, so I am wondering if I am doing something wrong - or if this is to prevent burning?

And finally - Do you suggest using the US unit as a massage unit as well? This is what the do when I go to my PT - as I go in for Trigger Point Injections 2x monthly....and they massage along with Ultrasound - the problem sometimes I am really sore from it....Last night I worked on my arms - and my forearm is fairly soar - I am not sure if it is from massaging too hard...or just the deep penetration and breaking things up with the ultrasound -

Thanks - and I will let you know how the Ultrasound works for my lumpy muscle tissue from the fibromyalgia.....

Hello Koiotic,

It is obvious that you are very proactive in your care to manage the pain dur to fibromyalgia and Hereditary Angio Edema. The Ultrasound System will be effective on your lumpy muscle tissue from the fibromyalgia as it works to increase the flow of blood to the area and break down any scar tissue that exists.

In regards to using the Ultrasound on your veins, I would ask you to speak with your doctor. Ultrasound increases the flow of blood through the veins and with any vascular condition, Ultrasound therapy should be discussed with the physician who is treating you to ensure clotting is not an issue.

As you use the Ultrasound you will find the area begins to warm up. This is an indication that blood flow is increasing to the area and the Ultrasound is in fact doing its job. However, it is not meant to work as a massage tool or a heat treatment in the heating pad sense. The Ultrasound works by vibrations generating heat on a cellular level and the heat is not felt to a large degree. However, ask you doctor about the treatment time that he would recommend as all cases and people are different. You may be able to extend it without causing tissue damage so you can enjoy the warmth a little longer. If you begin to experience pain, you are probably over treating the area and treatment time should be cut back. Again, be sure to get your doctor's approval before increasing treatment time.

We do not recommend use of the Ultrasound over areas injected with medication or a steroid (i.e. cortisone) until 30 days after the injection (please refer to the Contraindications in the User Manual that came with your Ultrasound System). However, as you have said, your PT uses in at the clinic. Once again, I would refer you too your doctor for his recommendation in this situation.

Sorry I am unable to be of more assistant with your questions but I feel that your situation requires personal advice from your own physician. If you or your physician have any more questions regarding using the Ultrasound for your treatment please reply to this post, email us at service@mendmeshop.com or contact one of our advisors at 1-866-237-9608.

Let us know how it goes,

Thank You for your reply - and I understand your concern in answering my questions due to my conditions.....

I wanted to let you know how well the Ultrasound Machine is working for me - and how impressed my doctors/alternative care providers are as well.

Last weekend I went for a 5 Mile Walk/Run - at about the 3.5 mile I began experiencing my typical pain in my left hip - I have been being treated for just over a year now with prolotherapy in my sacrum area due to stretched ligaments - I have healed tremendously - but not a 100% yet...Anyway - I am use to the pain, so made it through my 5 miles - and when I got home iced the area - and then used the Ultrasound on the Hip and IT band area - I used it several time throughout the day - thinking I would probably need to go see my chiropractor in the morning to help get me back in line -

Much to my suprise - The pain was gone in the morning. I am healing on my own - and quickly as well.

When I went for my massage yesterday, my MT was very impressed with the change in my tissue. I know it not 100% from the Ultrasound Unit - However it is helping tremendously. We have really started to notice changes in my muscles - and the amount of scar tissue and lumps I have in them.

It did take me a couple weeks to get in the habit of using it - but now when I am sitting, relaxing, watching TV - I have it out - Using it......

My doctors all love it - and they have all written down the info so they could order one. -

I also wanted to mention that my husband is an Electrician, and has been off of work for some time and recently went back - His tendon in his forearm was extremly tight from wiring overhead as he had not performed that motion in a while - I asked him if he wanted to try the Ultrasound - (he is one of "those guys" who does not like to do anything - not even take Tylenol) He acutally said yes - So I used the recommended time - He felt fine in the morning, and has not had a problem with it since - He even admitted how suprised he was - As he did not think it would work.

We also have a friend staying with us who is a Dental Hygenist - and she has been experiencing some pain as it is a very demanding job - she used it last night on her arms and really enjoyed the feeling from the lotion - and said overall it did feel better immediatly.....

Thank You - and I will keep you posted on my training and how it is going - I am going to a "Sports Physical Therapist" next week - and will ask them if they have any suggestions as well....

Oh - also, as far as the injections, my doctor said use it - It is not coritsone that they inject - it is actually procaine - and wears off quickly - so I am not sure if that is why maybe it is different.....at my last trigger point - she told me to go home and ultrasound to my hearts content......I did....and they really did decrease in size....

Thanks again!
